DocketBEO vs Toast Catering & Events
Toast Catering & Events is a $100 a month add-on to Toast POS with inquiry forms, BEO templates, estimates, deposits and reminders; a Pro tier adds a guest page and room booking at an unpublished price. DocketBEO is $129 a month, works with or without Toast, and sends the whole BEO (allergies, timeline, notes) to the kitchen screen rather than the items alone.
DocketBEO is one system for a restaurant: its website, online reservations with no per-cover fee, the floor plan and host stand, kitchen screens and printers, checkout, private events with BEOs, and QuickBooks sync, priced per location from $49 a month with a 14-day free trial and no card to start.
Who each one is for
Toast Catering & Events is for a restaurant already on Toast POS that wants an events module inside the same vendor. DocketBEO is for a restaurant that wants events run from inquiry to kitchen in one record, whether or not it keeps Toast at the register.
Side by side
| Toast Catering & Events | DocketBEO | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $100 a month list for the standard module, on top of a Toast POS plan. Pro tier price not published. | $129 a month (House), no POS required. Includes reservations, floor, kitchen and the website. |
| Requires | Toast POS. | A browser. Works beside Toast, Square or Clover, or replaces the register if you want it to. |
| Inquiry to BEO | Lead forms; by Toast's own docs, inquiry answers don't carry into the event order. | The inquiry becomes the BEO with nothing retyped. |
| What the kitchen sees | The kitchen screen gets the items. | The whole BEO: courses, allergies, timeline, setup notes, in nine languages. |
| Client page, signature, deposits | Estimates with typed-name signature and deposits; the branded guest page (EventView) and saved card are Pro. | Client portal, typed-name signature, deposits into your own Stripe account, payment reminders. Included. |
| Room booking | Event Areas is Pro only; not tied to Toast Tables or OpenTable. | A private event blocks the room on the same book your reservations use. |
| Commission on catering | None. | None. |
| Contract | Toast POS contracts commonly run 2 to 3 years with an early-termination fee. | Month to month. |
Where Toast Catering & Events is the better fit
- You are on Toast, happy with it, and want one vendor and one bill.

Where DocketBEO is the better fit
- You want the line to see the whole BEO, not a list of items.
- You want the inquiry, the BEO, the signature and the deposit in one record with nothing retyped.
- You want events, reservations, the floor and your website for one published price, and no multi-year contract.
Questions
Does DocketBEO replace Toast?
It can, and it doesn't have to. Many restaurants keep Toast at the register and run events, reservations and the website in DocketBEO. There is no Toast data integration today, so menus live in both places if you run both.
How does a BEO get to my kitchen?
In DocketBEO the BEO is the same record the kitchen screen reads. On the day, the line sees the event's courses, headcount, allergies, timeline and notes on its station screen, and tickets print on Star or Epson kitchen printers when courses fire. Nothing is re-entered from a PDF.
What does Toast Catering & Events cost?
Toast's help centre lists the standard module at $100 a month (read 2026-10-29). The Pro package, which adds the guest page, room booking and a saved card, has no published price.
