DocketBEO vs Resy for a small restaurant

Resy OS is a reservation and table-management platform with a diner network, priced at $289 a month (Platform, or Essential powered by Tock) or $459 (Platform 360, or Premium powered by Tock), with no per-cover fee and a 2% to 3% fee on prepaid bookings. DocketBEO puts reservations on your own website from $49 a month, also with no per-cover fee, and adds the host stand, floor plan, kitchen screens, checkout and private events for $129.

DocketBEO is one system for a restaurant: its website, online reservations with no per-cover fee, the floor plan and host stand, kitchen screens and printers, checkout, private events with BEOs, and QuickBooks sync, priced per location from $49 a month with a 14-day free trial and no card to start.

Who each one is for

Resy is for a restaurant in a Resy city that wants the diner network, the app and ticketed experiences, and will pay a flat $289 or more a month for them. DocketBEO is for a restaurant that wants its own website to take the bookings, and the floor, kitchen and private dining on the same system, for a flat price that starts lower.

Where Resy is the better fit

  • You're in a city where diners open the Resy app to pick a restaurant, and the network fills seats you wouldn't fill otherwise.
  • You sell prepaid tickets or tasting-menu experiences and want Tock's ticketing.
  • You want the Amex and Resy marketing reach.

Where DocketBEO is the better fit

  • Most of your bookings already come from your own site or regulars, and $289 a month is paying for a network you don't use.
  • You do private dining and want the buyout, the BEO and tonight's tables on one system.
  • You want the website, the host stand, the floor and the kitchen included rather than four more subscriptions.

Questions

Should I leave Resy for DocketBEO?

Not if Resy is filling tables you couldn't fill yourself. Resy's network finds first-time diners; a booking page on your own site can't. Many restaurants run both: Resy for discovery, DocketBEO for website bookings with no per-cover fee, the floor, the kitchen and private dining. There is no Resy sync today, so hold network inventory by hand.

Does Resy charge per cover?

No. Resy's pricing page says there are no per-cover fees; you pay a flat $289 or $459 a month, plus 2% or 3% on prepaid bookings on the Tock-powered plans and standard card processing. DocketBEO also has no per-cover fee and no cut of deposits.

What is a cheaper alternative to Resy for a small restaurant?

DocketBEO's Website plan is $49 a month and includes online reservations on your own site, confirmations and reminders, guest self-service changes and card-on-file no-show protection. House, at $129, adds the host stand, floor plan, kitchen screens, checkout and private events. Neither plan finds new diners the way Resy's network does.
